At Divergent Family Law, we often offer payment plans, so you can get the legal help you need while breaking up the costs to be more manageable. Oftentimes, our payment plans are structured as paying half up front, then the rest in increments.
One of the first questions clients want to know is how much their divorce will cost. Divergent Family Law provides flat fee quotes in your free consultation based on the details of your case. In addition to flat fee pricing, we also offer payment plans to make the divorce process more financially manageable.
Divorce often comes with unexpected financial pressure. A payment plan can help reduce that burden by breaking legal fees into more manageable payments, making it easier to access representation without delaying important decisions.
In addition to payment plans, Divergent Family Law offers several ways to pay: by credit card, debit card, check, or cash. Some clients have parents or other supportive people in their lives helping them finance their divorce. Those people can make payments on a clients’ behalf over the phone or through our online portal.
Our payment plans require at least half of the total upfront, with the remaining balance to be paid monthly. The case must be paid in full by the time the case is closed. We offer autobilling, so you never miss a payment or have to remember your due date.
Payments can be made online anytime or over the phone during business hours.
Most clients are offered payment plans if they need one. We understand payment plans make it easier to budget and plan ahead.
You may not be offered a payment plan if:
For instance, we do not offer payment plans for some of our limited scope representation or coachings where the scope of the agreement is reviewing documents.
Our attorneys reserve the right to determine if you are eligible for a payment plan with our firm.
When you work with Divergent Family Law, you will be given the total cost upfront. That is because Divergent Family Law uses flat fees for representation.
Some family law attorneys use hourly billing, often using retainers. They ask for a set amount upfront, and then whenever they work on your case, they subtract it from that amount. When the retainer runs out, they require additional money from you to keep working. They take from the retainer any time they email with you, take your phone call, and more. That means any time you have a question, it is costing you money.
Divergent Family Law uses flat fees. When you have your free consultation, the attorney will tell you upfront what the cost of representation will be. Our attorneys will let you know what is included or excluded in that flat fee. Most representation is started and finished in that first quote, but if your case requires experts or goes to trial, that is typically not included. You’ll be informed of those fees upfront if they look likely for your case, and you’ll have the option of whether or not to proceed.
Some firms represent their retainers as a flat fee. It’s important to ask them if it is a retainer, and if that amount is the full amount you can expect to pay for their representation.
Divorce can impact every area of your finances. Payment plans help make legal services more accessible by offering predictable payments that fit more comfortably within your budget.
